Make A Great Impression How much thought do you give to the impression you make on other people? 

Now, you may say what others think isn’t important because you are confident in who you are and what you can do. You may say it’s something you consider often — your reputation is everything, and you want people to think well of you. Or you may land somewhere in-between, and feel it just depends on where you are and whom you might meet.

Do you realize that someone is always watching you? No matter where you are or what you are doing, people can see how you conduct yourself and interact with others. Buying coffee in the morning? People will notice if you are on your phone or greet the barista with a friendly smile. Driving on the freeway? Are you a considerate driver or dealing with a case of road rage? What about when you’re at work — you’re busy taking care of business, so it doesn’t matter, right? 

Wrong. People will draw conclusions about you based on what they see and feel – whether they speak with you, or just observe you from across the room. Do you project confidence, authority and approachability?

  • Posture: Stand up straight, chin up, shoulders back and down, tummy in, backside tucked under. Not only does it make you look more confident and attractive, it will help you feel that way too. 
  • Facial Expression: A smile conveys friendliness and approachability. It is the number one indicator that conversation is welcome.
  • Appearance: Are you dressed appropriately for the occasion? Clean hair, hands and nails are important. 
  • Positive Mindset: Friendliness is not difficult but it requires awareness and needs to be a part of you, naturally.

Any time you interact with someone, you have the opportunity to build your reputation or diminish it. You never know who you may be interacting with or whom they may know. Making a great impression always matters.
